BluMetric Appoints New Board Member

Ottawa – February 3, 2014 – BluMetric Environmental Inc. (TSX-V: BLM), an Ottawa-based cleantech company, is pleased to announce the appointment of Jane Pagel, M.Sc., ICD.D, as a new independent Director of the Company.

Having held numerous executive positions in both government and the private sector, Ms Pagel was President and CEO of the Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA) from 2010 until her retirement in early 2014. OCWA is an agency of the Province of Ontario that operates 800 water and wastewater treatment facilities and associated systems for 145 municipalities in addition to industrial and First Nations clients.

Prior industry positions held by Ms Pagel include Principal Government and Industry Relations at Stantec; Senior Vice President and Principal at Jacques Whitford, one of Canada’s largest private consulting engineering, environmental, and earth sciences companies, with more than 45 offices worldwide and over 1,700 employees (acquired by Stantec in 2009); Vice President Government Relations at Philip Services; and President of Zenon Environmental Laboratories. Ms Pagel also held senior positions at the Ministry of the Environment and was Director of Research and Technology when she left the Ministry in 1990.

Ms Pagel has served on a number of boards and currently sits on the boards of Sustainable Development Technology Canada, which provides $1.3 billion in funding to help commercialize Canadian clean technologies, and the Water Technology Acceleration Project (WaterTAP). She was recently selected to be part of Canada’s Diversity 50 2013 list of board candidates.

Jordan Grant, BluMetric’s Chair, said, “Jane’s leadership qualities combined with her industry experience in both sides of BluMetric’s business – professional services and water – make her an invaluable addition to the board, and we anticipate that we will see continued improvements in governance and operations with the help of her input. Her reputation and qualifications make her a superlative choice for BluMetric, and we are honoured to have her join a board that was recently strengthened by the appointment of Murray Malley. Together, they provide industry expertise, “Street” smarts, and the knowledge and experience needed to build BluMetric’s business significantly.”

“I’m pleased to be joining the board of BluMetric, impressed as I am by the calibre and reputation of the company’s people, services, and technologies,” said Jane Pagel. “As a result of my background at Zenon and more recently the Ontario Clean Water Agency, I can see significant growth opportunities for BluMetric’s Water Division, in addition to the synergies realizable by Professional Services. I’m looking forward to helping build the company into a significant global player.”

This appointment is subject to regulatory approval.
