Ottawa-based BluMetric Environmental Inc. has been awarded a C$1.1 million contract to design and deliver a water treatment plant for a large, multinational mining company. The plant’s purpose is to ensure that infiltration water pumped from a northern Ontario mine site meets the stringent but environmentally protective Ministry of the Environment requirements.
The treatment plant will integrate several technologies in an innovative approach to removing dissolved metals, ammonia, and other contaminants. The design, which will include BluMetric’s first industrial use of LG’s advanced membrane products, is highly modular, allowing the plant to be transported to and re-commissioned at other sites in future.
“This contract is a result of our team’s ability to approach each customer’s situation with innovative thinking, solve site-specific problems, and still deliver quickly,” said Dan Scroggins, President of BluMetric’s Water Division. “BluMetric has broad experience with alternative treatment methods and the environmental regulation surrounding mining and mine development. Along with our practical “can-do” response to the additional challenges presented by work in remote sites, this is the key to our success in this sector.”
