BluMetric Signs More Than $2.2 Million in Contracts in Ontario and Northern Canada

Ottawa – 29 November, 2016 – BluMetric Environmental Inc. (TSX-V: BLM) has initiated more than $2.2 million in recent contracts for work based in Northern Ontario, Nunavut, NWT, and the Yukon, including a $1.03 million contract for Harte Gold to design, supply, and install a mine-water treatment system for the Sugar Zone Project near Hemlo, Ontario, which starts immediately with anticipated commissioning in Spring of 2017.

The contract wins offer a clear indication of the strength and range of BluMetric’s environmental solutions for clients dealing with extreme climates, complex treatment issues, and remote regions.

The Harte Gold mine-water treatment system will treat ammonia using a state-of-the-art resin exchange system, in addition to more conventional metals treatment.  With a depth of expertise that enables it to innovate and customize solutions for specific client needs, BluMetric is very active in all stages of the analysis, planning, construction, and execution of wastewater solutions as well as the provision of specialized hydrology, hydrogeology, occupational health and safety, and other development and compliance services for mining clients domestically and abroad.

“The Harte Gold project fits precisely into our strategy of developing situationally tailored mine-water treatment systems for use in challenging environments that are often compounded by complex water chemistry,” said Dan Scroggins, BluMetric’s VP of Research and Innovation.  “Ammonia from runoff and mine dewatering is a significant obstacle for mine developers and operators, and BluMetric is very well positioned to help mining clients successfully and cost-effectively face these challenges.”

The balance of the new contracts vary in technology area, business line, and client sector, with the majority involving work in environmental engineering, industrial hygiene, waste management, and contaminated site/building assessment and remediation.  Clients include all levels of government and their agents – from federal and territorial to Inuit and First Nations communities, as well as private entities – and they are situated in northern Ontario, the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, and the Yukon.

“The level and extent of the contract wins we are experiencing demonstrate broad demand and prove the strategic sense of our northern focus,” said Roger Woeller, CEO of BluMetric.  “With a long-term presence in Yellowknife, a newly strengthened team in Whitehorse, and ready access to Nunavut, BluMetric’s reach continues to expand and we are able to provide our high-quality service and solutions in Canada’s most remote and difficult sites.”
