Ottawa – 9 December, 2013 – BluMetric Environmental Inc. (TSX-V: BLM), a Canadian cleantech company, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a contract valued at US$2.348 million to provide wastewater treatment systems and related installation services to Grupo Unidos por el Canal (GUPC) and the Panama Canal Authority.
GUPC is the contractor responsible for the design and construction of the Third Set of Locks – the main project of the Panama Canal Expansion Program – which is amongst the world’s largest ongoing construction projects. GUPC is a consortium of large European and Panamanian construction and engineering companies, formed specifically to undertake this extraordinary multi-year, multi-billion-dollar Canal expansion project. The BluMetric equipment will be delivered in stages through the first half of calendar 2014.
“We’re very pleased that GUPC selected BluMetric to design, build, install, and commission these critical pieces of environmental infrastructure to the Canal expansion project,” said Dan Scroggins, President of the BluMetric Water Division. “With GUPC, we were able to provide advanced technical solutions that exactly fit their needs, in an environment that demands robust design and flexible customer service options.”
“This project provides a strong indication of our ability to market and deliver our solutions to large multinational customers, a specific trigger for growth outlined in our strategic plan,” said Roger Woeller, BluMetric’s co-Chief Executive Officer. “We have a significant presence in Latin America, and this project signals our readiness to expand in that region. We look forward to working with GUPC as it undertakes this mega-project.”
