Engineering and Project Management

BluMetric is dedicated to the provision of engineering and project management services to the waterpower and hydraulic structures industry. Our core services include all of the disciplines required for the design, construction and operation of hydroelectric power generating facilities, and our approvals group guides each project through the environmental assessment and regulatory approvals process.

The principals and senior staff of BluMetric’s Renewable Energy Service line are recognized experts in the fields of engineering and project management required for the successful implementation of highly complex waterpower projects. We have been involved in over 250 waterpower projects in Canada, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and elsewhere around the world, and have worked exclusively in this field for over twenty-five years.

BluMetric provides a complete range of support services to hydraulic structure owners and operators, including dam safety assessment, structural rehabilitation, hydraulic modeling and public safety requirements.

Our clients are waterpower developers and operators, municipalities and conservation authorities, government agencies at all levels, dam owners, and others interested in renewable energy or hydraulic structures.

Public Safety Risk Assessments and Public Safety Plans

Are you an owner of a water control structure? Are you duly diligent in addressing public safety issues around the site?

BluMetric offers a variety of practical & cost-effective solutions to owners of water control structures and waterpower generating facilities. We have managed regulatory compliance requirements for owners of new and existing control structures; successfully secured provincial and federal permits and approvals for construction and operation; and developed emergency preparedness plans on behalf of our clients.

Since 2008, BluMetric has completed Public Safety Assessments & Public Safety Measures Plans (PSMPs) for owners of water control structures. The purpose is to assess both public and worker interaction at each site and to recommend measures to assist clients in eliminating or minimizing risk. Assessments are completed in accordance with the Canadian Dam Association's Guidelines for Public Safety Around Dams (2011). BluMetric has completed engineering designs and tender documents for the installation of multiple public safety measures.
