The Opportunity

BLUMETRIC is looking for an enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and reliable Hydrogeologist or Engineer to work in our Ottawa office. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and technical skills and technical writing abilities. Knowledge of drilling supervision, monitoring well installation and development, groundwater and surface-water sampling, and aquifer test implementation and analysis is considered an asset. They will be expected to perform tasks that may include the execution of site characterization programs, technical report preparation, and data analysis and management using MS Excel. Bilingualism (English/French) would be an asset.

Job Responsibilities
Include, but are not limited to:

  • Work as part of an interdisciplinary project team in both the field and office settings to meet project objectives.
  • Supervision of or implementation of field programs including borehole and monitoring well drilling, soil, surface water and groundwater monitoring, and aquifer testing.
  • Ability to recognise and identify job hazards and work within strict health and safety protocols.
  • Data management and interpretation.
  • Technical report writing.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • The ideal candidate will have their B.Sc. in Earth or Environmental Sciences, or a B.A.Sc./B.Eng. in civil, geological or environmental engineering and be on track to become a P.Geo. or P.Eng.
  • Experience in the characterisation of soils, surface water and groundwater.
  • 1 to 4 years of relevant experience to support environmental geosciences and engineering projects for industrial, private, and government clients, preferably consulting would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of geology, physical and chemical hydrogeology including contaminated site investigations, delineation, and remediation.
  • Relevant experience may include surface-water and groundwater monitoring and sampling procedures, borehole drilling and monitoring well installation, logging of field samples, the preparation of borehole logs, and conducting and analysing slug and bail tests, and pumping tests.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. The ability to write professional technical reports is essential.
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
  • Ability to travel domestically.
  • Ability to work independently both in the office and in the field.
  • Positive attitude, teamwork and ability to problem-solve is essential.
